To be honest I was a bit let down by BLOOD BURNED, the 3rd book in the Pulse series. I really loved the last book, LIFE'S BLOOD and was excited with high expectations after it's thrilling rollercoaster ride of action and romance. Unfortunately this third book fell short. It confused and sadden me that Kalina, our strong feisty heroin, who had come so far, grown so much, suddenly seemed like a different person altogether. To Gow's credit, there were still some great moments and twist in BLOOD BURNED, but they got lost a bit in the crazy muddle of her regular life. On one hand she was having all this drama play out in her head, internal strife, mental torture through telepathy by the damaged (and my favorite vamp, evil or not) Jaegar, denied by her true love Octavius, the lives of all who she cares for in danger.. and what does she do?.. Kalian goes to prom.. What?!.. yep prom. It just felt bizarre. Also there were some conversations with her brother that had me scratching my head.I'm hoping that in the fourth book, Kalian returns to her former self that had me on the edge of my seat rooting for her in LIFE'S BLOOD... one step back, two steps forward?.. fingers crossed. Like I said before, there was some great stuff amongst the disjointedness of BLOOD BURNED and Gow seemed to be getting the story back on track by the end.
A little weary, but still confident in this series' potential, I look forward to greatness in BLUE BLOOD, book 4.

I am more disappointed the further I read in this series. After Kalina finally found her soul mate, the last book left off with one of her lesser vampire loves being turned by Life's Blood and pledging to come after her. As such, I anticipated an epic volume with heightened romance, a serious lock down as they realized the gravity of the situation and prepared for the battle to come, and painful soul-searching by the characters created in the past two books. However, none of this happened. Instead, this third book backtracks, acting almost as a placeholder between the first two and the last two books. Kalina slips back into incessant internal dialogue about who she loves (while admitting it can only be one person...wait, maybe she can love another...no...wait), and returns to her dangerous home to bide her time in a place where her greatest threats can find her. But, instead of worrying about that she hangs out with friends, goes to prom, flirts, and every once in a while remembers her life and love are in danger.
The characters you actually developed interest in during the first two books are cast aside and only utilized for cameos (via telepathy mostly), and when you finally reach the inevitable point where the book goes to commercial break and tells you that it continues in "Book 4 of Pulse", you realize that you honestly couldn't care less. I truly feel that if the author had worked to turn her material into 2-3 books instead of a series of 5, the character development and story arc could have made for great reading. As it is, I feel like the only thing that really keeps you going from book to book is the frustrating possibility that you could have put that much time into a story and still not be able to reap any conclusions.
This series of books is awesome. I couldn't put it down. There aren't many good vampire series out there but this is definitely one of the best.
I luved it and was hard for me to decide which borthers or he creator Kalina should pic, I really enjoyed all of the Pulse Series, was so amazing and really enjoyed reading them all!!!!!
I would have liked to have seen Kalina be able to make up her mind. Also, some of the grammar and editing needs improvement. Otherwise, it was a good series all in all.
how fun! Can't wait for Blue Blood. What will Kailin and her loves get into next. Big brother, Justin is awfully understanding. The series is a fun read.

Be prepared to buy all of them lol, you just have to know what happens next!!!

The Pulse series has been really good so far. At times the characters are a bit cliche, but I haven't gotten tired of reading it yet. Gow does a good job of ending the story at a moment where I have to know what comes next. My favorite part about this series so far is that Gow has created a good story line behind it, it's not just a typical vampire romance. Great YA read. )
